Mass – Celebrating Communion

Communion – Partaking Of The Eucharist

Following the Lamb of God. The parish congregation takes the Eucharist. The following prayer is said. The parish congregation answers with proclamations in bold print.

This is the Lamb of God

who takes away the sins of the world.

Happy are those who are called to his supper.

Lord I am not worth to receive you,

but only say the word and I shall be healed.

After the celebrant takes the sacrament,

the congregation proceeds to receive the sacrament.

Non-Catholics are ENCOURAGED to come forward.

Even though non-Catholics cannot partake of the Eucharist,

they may receive a blessing.

As a Catholic receives the Body of Christ, the celebrant will state

Body of Christ

Amen

Non-Catholics will not receive the Body of Christ.

It is desirable that they cross their arms across their

chest to receive the blessing.

Catholics proceed to take of the cup.

Non-Catholics do not approach the cup.

The minister states

Blood of Christ

Amen

Everyone return to their seats to meditate and pray.
