Why I Came Out of Catholicism

First of all I thank my LORD Jesus for your ministry, and I do hope more and more people will be led to this sight. My testimony may be quite long, but I will try to keep it as brief as possible; you may edit it if necessary.

I honestly believe that my LORD God and saviour Jesus Christ had been calling me since I was a young child. I became a Christian at the age of 28, ( I will be 50 in about 4 weeks), but I can tell you for a fact that Jesus has been a real presence in my life since I am able to remember: it started at a funeral for a great aunt, and there were many nuns and priests there. I came out of the Catholic system at the age of fifteen, but the earliest recollection I have of being called is when I was four years old. I can recall almost every instance where I was involved with, or introduced to a believer in Jesus and although, as a child, I was not always allowed to participate in the V. B. S.’s that were going on in our neighborhood, He, Jesus, never let it lie. Those prohibitions always stood out in my mind and I remained curious. We were not even allowed to sing “Jesus Loves Me”!

It is without doubt that I played around with witchcraft in junior high school with others, but that led no where, and I gave it up as a lost cause. It was not right and I knew that, but my cousin was another story, and I am still not sure if he has totally given it up yet; he was an alter boy, and the mysticism that goes along with the catholic faith makes me sick to this day. Why is it that God’s Word says these things are wrong and yet the RCC does not discourage the practice of occult things? I guess I should not be surprised since they encourage necromancy, which is totally against God’s Word. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. I guess this would include the praying to dead people as well as the pergatory business too.

I actually invited J. W.’s into my home when I was on my own, and almost succumbed to their teachings, but obviously my LORD had better things in store for me. The J. W.’s brag about how many catholics they get into their organization, and I can understand why; their teachings are not that much different and both try to make themselves Jews, who are not.

Revelation 3:7-13 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. At the same time I had a friend who used to bug me about how I wanted to know the truth and we eventually parted ways, but the LORD is faithful, and, four years later reunited us and He used her to bring me to HIM! Praise God for His faithfulness!

Here I am twenty years later, not that I have attained, but I know whom I have believed and He is faithful. 2 Timothy 1:8-13 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

I have an earthly family who are altogether unbelievers and it hurts so deep. I have tried to witness to them and what I got back from my mother totally astounded me. She accused me of working for the devil and sending his words. What I sent to her was copied from one of my Bible programs; pure Scripture. Now I know for sure what Jesus was talking about, and if she would have a chance, she would be one of the first to stone me. Go Figure! Jesus said, “If they persecuted me, they will persecute you for my name sake…” John 15:20

I praise and thank the LORD God of Israel, my LORD and Savior for His providence in my life, and if there is one message I would send to all the Catholic people who look at your web site, it would be this: 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 Therefore come out from among them, and be you separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto you, You must be born again. To GOD be the Glory; Amen
